BLENDED LEARNING Use of Technology in Teaching and Learning

BLENDED LEARNING Use of Technology in Teaching and Learning Blended learning is a game-changer approach to learning that uses online technology to not only complement, but transform and improve the learning process. In blended learning, technology and teaching inform each other, and the material becomes dynamic when it reaches students of varying learning styles. Blended learning as a ‘trend’ in ‘progressive learning’, ideally combines face-to-face and online learning experiences, both which complement the learning process with its particular strength. MMS believes in the power of technology to transform teaching and learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, MMS provided online learning opportunities and the use of open educational resources and other technologies for our students and saw the acceleration in the rate of learning, reduced costs associated with instructional materials, program delivery and better utilization of teacher time.

MATHAKONDAPALLI MODEL SCHOOL (CBSE) IS A 21st CENTURY TOP SCHOOL IN HOSUR, TAMIL NADU

Prior to COVID-19, teaching and learning in schools were undergoing a transformation, and now, during COVID-19, it is taking a momentum stride which will continue in post COVID-19. For hundreds of years, from K-12, classrooms were run by the teachers. They delivered lessons to the children from prescribed textbooks. It was a routine that the lesson delivery started and closed with a bell. Children were made to run behind marks by set tests and examinations. After the examinations, both the children and parents will wait for the results that might delight, disappoint, or even surprise them at times. This ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to teaching and learning was in many schools for many years. Due to technological interventions, and most recently, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the teaching-learning process is undergoing an unprecedented change. MMS has started future ready online classes to ensure that the children’s learning is not stunted by the ongoing situation. Our teachers and students make extensive use of the Microsoft Aspire School Program for their online interactions. The teachers get continuous training in blended teaching, learning and assessment. Parents training in this platform will take place soon. The unknown future of children is well understood by the teachers in preparing the learners to meet the challenges. Let us continue our work in the fast-changing world.
